Good footwork is often what separates consistent players from inconsistent ones. It is not just about speed but about arriving balanced.

    • A good split-step sets up the first move
    • The first few steps are explosive; then small adjustment steps fine-tune position
    • After the shot, recovery steps bring you back to a good court position
    • Balance at contact matters as much as reaching the ball

Which part of footwork do you find hardest: getting there, setting up, or recovering?

A drill I use: hitting with the instruction to take at least two small adjustment steps before every shot. It slows players down at first, but most find their contact becomes more consistent.
