Running form gets a lot of attention online, especially foot strike. The evidence suggests that most runners self-select a reasonably efficient style, and that big changes need a clear reason.
Heel striking is common among recreational and many elite distance runners; it is not automatically harmful
Switching to a forefoot strike shifts load from the knee towards the calf and Achilles, which can be a problem if done abruptly
Overstriding, landing with the foot far ahead of the body, is more often the issue than foot strike itself
Form changes are best made gradually and usually only when there is a recurring injury or a clear inefficiency
Simple cues that often help without overthinking: “run tall”, “quick light steps”, “land under your hips”. These tend to reduce overstriding indirectly. A short video from the side at your usual pace shows more than any amount of reading.
