Protocol
The Hoff Test, developed by Jan Hoff et al., is a field test measuring football-specific aerobic capacity with the ball. Footballers dribble a designated course for 8 minutes, covering the greatest possible distance. Course Setup: The standard Hoff course of 285.5 meters is set up. The course includes S-curves, narrow passages, and turns around cones. Sloped sections are optional but may be added on hilly pitches. Test Procedure: The participant enters the course with the ball. They repeatedly complete the course at the highest possible tempo while dribbling for 8 minutes. If the player loses the ball, they continue from the nearest point. Heart rate is monitored throughout. Data Recording: The number of completed laps in 8 minutes and the partial distance of the final lap are recorded. Total distance is calculated in meters. Average and maximum heart rate are recorded. Calculation and Interpretation: The distance and HR values obtained can be used for VO₂max estimation. They also provide comparative data for in-season monitoring of footballer fitness. According to Hoff (2002), this test provides a valid VO₂max estimate comparable to tests run without the ball. Post-Test: The participant cools down with slow dribbling. Data are entered into the player profile database.Formula

Normative Values (Age: Elite futbolcular)
| Classification | Male | Female |
|---|---|---|
| Excellent | >2500m (8 dak) | >2000m (8 dak) |
| Good | 2000-2500m | 1600-2000m |
| Average | 1600-2000m | 1200-1600m |
| Below Average | 1200-1600m | 900-1200m |
| Poor | <1200m | <900m |
Practical Applications
The Hoff test is used as a standard fitness monitoring tool outside of training in football clubs. Because ball-based exercise maintains high cardiovascular intensity, training and testing can be combined.Limitations
Dependence on dribbling technique affects results. Course standardization is critical. Not valid for non-football athletes.Related Tests: Yo-Yo IR1, Beep Test, Small-Sided Game Speed Test
