Protocol
The Acceleration Test measures a participant’s capacity to accelerate from a stationary position to maximum speed. Performance in the 0–10m and 0–20m segments is evaluated, focusing on the acceleration phase of a standard sprint test.
Preparation: A flat, firm surface of at least 20m in length is prepared. Photoelectric cells are placed at 0m, 10m, and 20m. The participant warms up for 10–15 minutes and activates the nervous system with 3–4 progressive build-up runs (70%, 80%, 90% maximal).
Test Procedure: The participant stands ready 0.5–1m behind the photocell line. They initiate the sprint with a forward step at their chosen moment. Times for 0–10m and 0–20m are recorded separately. Gradual deceleration occurs 5–10m past the finish line.
Trials: 3 trials with 3 minutes of rest between; best 0–10m and 0–20m times are used.
Calculation: Mean velocity_0-10m = 10 / t10 (m/s); Mean acceleration ≈ (v_10m − 0) / t10 (m/s²). Correlated with explosive power score; can be supported with force plate data.
Post-Test: Cool-down walk. Acceleration profile is interpreted for force-velocity analysis. Players’ 10m and 20m times are compared for position-specific analysis.
Formula
Ortalama hız (m/s) = 10/t10; ivme (m/s²) = Δv/Δt; saha: hesaplama grafiksel olarak yapılır
Equipment Required
20m düz zemin, fotosel sistemi (0m, 10m, 20m), koni

Practical Applications
The acceleration test is used in player selection and training adaptation monitoring in sports where initial speed pressure is critical, such as football, rugby, and basketball.
Limitations
Measurement with a hand stopwatch is unreliable; photoelectric cells are essential. Starting position (seated, half-squat, upright) affects standardization.
